Next Level Apple Pie

Next Level Apple Pie

8 apples, sliced thinly.  We used Granny Smith.

1 jar or 4 ounces Stella's Table Apricot Jam

1 tablespoon corn starch

Pinch of salt

1/2 tablespoon butter

Pie dough - either homemade or store bought.

Peel and slice the apples. Set aside.

In a large bowl, mix together the apricot jam, corn starch and salt.  Add the apples and stir until all combined and the apples are coated evenly with the mixture.  Set aside for 5 to 10 minutes.

Place the bottom layer of pie dough into your pie plate.  Add the apple mixture and then evenly place small pieces of the butter on top of the apples.  Add the 2nd layer of pie dough and crimp the edges to get a firm seal.  Gently cut or fork the top of the pie so the steam can escape while cooking.

Cut 3 small pieces of foil and wrap along edges of pie.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples juices are bubbling.  Remove the foil from the edges after 30 minutes of cooking.
